We did roughly 1/2 of her 10.4-mile route (mapped out here in case you want to try it on your own), and stopped at several key points along the way, including the Chambers Street Subway station (pictured above) through which Bernie Goetz, aka the Subway Vigilante, fled on December 22, 1984 after committing his crime…
…and what is now Chelsea Market, formerly the Nabisco Cookie Factory…
…as well as Penn Station….
…& of course R.H. Macy’s in Herald Square, where Margaret Fishback, Lillian’s true-life inspiration, worked as a brilliant, funny, and extremely well-paid advertising copywriter:
