This past weekend, Martin Seay and I and 63 other authors from all over the country got to participate in the Unbound Book Festival in Columbia, MO thanks to the tireless and enthusiastic efforts of festival founder Alex George and his staff of dedicated volunteers. My panel was with Jami Attenberg, and moderated by Abby Manzella and we had a lively conversation about independent women living in New York City, seeking power, freedom, and fulfillment:
Martin got to be on a historical fiction panel with Therese Anne Fowler and Christina Baker Kline, moderated by Phong Nguyen…
…and Poems While You Wait wrote 49 poems throughout the day for people attending the various programs:
Huge thanks to Alex and everyone who work so hard to make this beautiful and inclusive festival happen! It was a delight to be a small part of such a large and engaging community event.
After Columbia, we headed over to Kansas City where I got to do a reading at the gorgeous Rainy Day Books in honor of the paperback release of Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk:
Thanks to Mary McBride and Becci West for conducting a thoughtful conversation and to the audience for their great questions during the Q&A, thanks to store owner Vivien Jennings for hosting, and to everyone who came out on a sunny Kansas City night to hear about Lillian!
