Now that song is totally in my head. But it's worth it to know those fun facts; can't wait to read the book, and to read it with that background in mind!

Holy small world. That top ten list features the Sam Benjamin book on it as well. When you receive Don't Smell the Floss and read the story, "My Friend the Pornographer," understand that my FRIEND in that story was actually Sam Benjamin. My good goodness this IS a small world after all.

I am glad she reviewed the book, but she seemed to be confused about what she wants to read. Freaking out for several paragraphs because of a Brazilian Wax? Really? Why are some subjects categorically off-limits to her in terms of their worthiness for being written about? Then she is upset because Kathy draws larger conclusions about the drunks at a bar, pointing out that they aren’t just drunks and fit into a larger picture about manners and the way in which some men think women are to be treated? Then later on she say “You can write about interesting people and places and big ideas"--it seems like she just described a bigger idea and condemned it. Then the reviewer comes back to the wax! Something obviously compelled her to finish the book, provoked her enough to write an insulting and not insightful review, make fun of the you (Kathy), your husband and your writing without really talking about the writing itself. Many high school girls will grow up to get Brazilian waxes, and many of them will have to contend with chauvinistic behavior from men--sparing them that or saying such things just should not be written about seems shortsighted.
