Last night at Comfort Station in Logan Square…

May 26, 2018 by KR

…the Runaways Lab Theater put on a one-night only production of The Blue Hour “a dreamy art installation cum-theatrical performance that investigates desire and memory in the age of mass surveillance.”

Using poet and essayist Elisa Gabbert’s poetry collection L’Heure Bleue–written from the perspective of Judy in Wallace Shawn’s play The Designated Mourner–the Runaways transformed the Comfort Station into a zone of immersive multisensory experience:

Five different actors played Judy, including Eileen Colwell, Maryse Meijer, Eleni Sauvageau, Sara Zalek and me, and Jessie McCarty (below far right) co-directed along with Logan Breitbart (not pictured). Elisa Gabbert (far left) came all the way from Denver to see the show.

Thanks to The Runaways and Comfort Station and to everyone who came out to enjoy some unconventional theater on a sultry Memorial Day weekend night.
