In a Sentimental Mood

May 24, 2011 by Kathleen Rooney

It’s the penultimate week of the Spring quarter at DePaul, and that means moodboards. Today, the 9:40 am section of Reading Poetry delivered this visual interpretation of Rhode Island Notebook by Gabriel Gudding, featuring state shapes and actual notebooks……and this one of The Book of Gods and Devils by Charles Simic…

…the shoebox of which featured the poem “At the Corner” and candy in keeping with the candy store theme…

…and this one of Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson……and this one of Gulf Music by Robert Pinsky: Next, the 11:20 am section delivered this visual interpretation of The Book of Gods and Devils by Charles Simic…

…and this one of Blood Dazzler by Patricia Smith……and this one of The Collected Poems of Weldon Kees..

...featuring mustaches in honor of one of the best mustaches in all of literary history……and last but  not least (for today), this one of Human Dark with Sugar by Brenda Shaughnessy…Stay tuned for further moodiness on Thursday and next Tuesday. Thanks to my students for being such great sports about a sort of unusual final project, and to Elizabeth Hildreth for the original moodboard concept.
