…in Chicago was Local Author Night, one of my favorite events at one of my favorite independent bookstores in the world. Suzy, the proprietor, began the evening by pointing out that the four featured books could make for a stellar summer reading list. I’m biased, of course, but I have to agree. First up was Kodi Scheer, reading from her magical realist short story collection, Incendiary Girls…
…followed by me reading from O, Democracy! (with my patriotic hat to indicate the narration of the Founding Fathers)… 
…followed by Eric Charles May reading from his novel Bedrock Faith (with a Prague ball cap to indicate that readings are sometimes better with hats)…
..and wrapped up by Lynne Raimondo reading from her latest mystery novel, Dante’s Poison:
