In the Mood for Spring: Part I

May 24, 2012 by Kathleen Rooney

Who, around Chicago, is not in the mood for Spring? And who, around DePaul, is not in the mood for Spring quarter to be over, which it will be shortly? In the meantime, despite the many spring feverish distractions, the students in my Reading Poetry class are making beautiful moodboards for their final presentations on collections of contemporary poetry, including this one on Panic Attack, USA by Nate Slawson, which smelled like raspberries (although not like Zooey Deschanel)…

…and this one on Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson, which smelled like cigarette butts and cut grass…

…and this one on Life and Death by Robert Creeley…

…and this one on Human Dark with Sugar by Brenda Shaughnessy, which smelled like sugar:

Thanks, everyone, for the good-looking, nice-smelling moodboards so far. Stay tuned for more!
